Gordian III. AE 30; Gordian III; 238-244 AD, Hadrianopolis, Thrace, AE 30, 14.51g. Jurukova-450 (V227/R436), Varbanov-3786 (same dies). Obv: AVT K M ANT - GOP?IANOC AVG Bust radiate, draped, cuirassed r., seen from front. Rx: A - ?[PI] - ANO? - O?EITON Eurydice, draped and veiled, standing l. between naked figures of Hermes and Orpheus; below, three reclining river gods, one on l. at Hermes' feet and two in exergue. Scarce larger denomination for Gordian III at Hadrianopolis, struck from only three obverse dies; interesting mythological reverse type, itself struck from just two reverse dies.. VG
